Today, Thursday, the State of Law coalition urged the House of Representatives to hold an emergency session to decide on the closure of the American embassy in Baghdad. The team also criticized the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for remaining silent on the dangerous statements made by the American ambassador.
In an interview with the media, the leader of the State of Law Coalition, Ibrahim Al-Sakini, demanded that the ministry take a stance on the recent violations of the American ambassador. He emphasized that the ambassador’s inability to respond to the allegations is irrelevant and the Washington administration’s interventions in Iraq must come to an end. He also pointed out that all Americans are currently present inside Iraq, which makes the situation even more concerning.
He questioned the need for field visits by high-ranking government officials and criticized the Foreign Ministry’s silence on the American ambassador’s dangerous statements.
The head of Al-Maliki’s coalition remarked, “Other ambassadors present in the country have not made similar statements or behaved in the same manner as the American ambassador in Iraq.” He emphasized the need for the House of Representatives to hold an extraordinary session to decide on closing the American embassy in Baghdad.
Ali Turki, a representative of the Al-Fatah Alliance, stated to “Al-Ma’louma” in a previous statement that the American administration is still attempting to interfere in Iraqi affairs. They are doing this through their ministers’ words or the American ambassador’s interventions in Baghdad. Outside her diplomatic duties, the ambassador is holding meetings with various executive and political figures.
