Iraq achieves a planned surplus of $7.6 billion in 2023

Economic expert Nabil Al-Marsoumi stated that Iraqi oil revenues in 2023 were $97.6 billion, a decrease from the previous year but still exceeding projections.

According to a publication viewed by “The Information,” Al-Marsoumi reported that Iraq’s oil revenues in 2023 were $97.6 billion, which is a decrease of $17.4 billion or 18% compared to the actual payments recorded in 2022 when they amounted to $115 billion.

According to him, the oil revenues in 2023 exceeded the planned revenues in the country’s budget by approximately $7.6 billion. This indicates that the actual revenues surpassed the official expectations.

According to Al-Marsoumi, the decline in revenue is due to fluctuations in the global oil prices and the challenges in the global market. However, the Iraqi government is committed to diversifying revenue sources to boost the national economy and attain financial stability.
