The Sulaymaniyah Asayish Security Directorate released five directives on Monday concerning financial activities in the dollar market of the city. These directives forbade the distinction between new and old dollar editions, as well as the exchange of any kind of electronic money.
The decision, which was signed in December of last year, is binding on the dollar market and needs to be followed.
The Security Control and Disbursement Division in Sulaymaniyah issued a formal letter directing all businesses, offices, dealers, and merchants to follow five directives or face legal action.
Differentiating between the old and new versions of the dollar is not allowed, and damaged, ripped, or counterfeit money is not accepted.
No guarantor is required upon receipt of the transfer; it must be given to the designated individual or his representative.
The recipient of the transfer has to be properly identified.
Direct communication and in-person exchange are required.
It is not allowed to deal in electronic currency in any form.
