Iraq Seeks to Boost Economic Ties with Lebanon, Syria

Dr. Haidar Mohammed Makkiya, the head of Iraq’s National Investment Commission (NIC), met with Mr. Amin Salam, the Lebanese Minister of Economy and Trade. During the gathering, Makiya attested Iraq’s longing to grow participation in the venture area.

The chairman of the NIC stated that the Iraqi government intends to integrate economic and commercial ties between Iraq and the countries in the region, including Lebanon.

He went on to say that the commission works to make the environment for businesspeople and foreign investors to invest in an appealing way by putting the amended Investment Law No. 13 of 2006, which ensures financial backers’ freedoms.
