Al-Sudani announces from Karbala readiness to launch the largest electricity production project

From the holy Karbala Governorate, Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani made the announcement today, Thursday, that the largest project to produce 10,000 megawatts of electricity was ready to go live.

He added, “The joined cycle projects and sun powered energy projects are important for the public authority’s arrangements to change the electrical framework and send off the sun based energy project in Karbala and Babylon, which will go on with the remainder of the governorates.”

“The three station projects will achieve an increase in the production of electrical energy,” he emphasized, “and the combined cycle of the Karbala gas station will contribute to adding (132) megawatts to the station currently operating with a total design capacity of (250) megawatts.”

He went on to say: One of the significant contracts that the government has signed in the field of renewable energy projects with a number of specialized international businesses is the investment project for the Karbala Solar Power Plant. Another important contract is to construct a solar power plant with a private company with a capacity of (300) megawatts.

“The Karbala Banks Secondary Station, 400 KV, with a capacity of 1500 megawatts, is being implemented within the second phase of electrical energy transmission projects under the contract with the German company Siemens,” he emphasized. It is the first transformer station of its kind in Karbala and will help alleviate network bottlenecks, thereby enhancing stability and satisfying the requirements of various sectors in the Middle Euphrates region.”
