The Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs will begin distributing aid salaries and educational grants to 2.3 million students who are the children of protection network beneficiaries on Tuesday. According to Najm Al-Aqabi, the ministry’s spokesman, the procedures for calculating the social aid payment for the month of October for the beneficiaries of the protection network have been completed, and the educational grant will be distributed to more than 2.3 million beneficiaries’ children next Tuesday.

In addition, he stated that his ministry has completed the procedures for including more than 950,000 new families in social protection and aims to include the remaining applicants in the event that allocations are available for the Social Protection Authority’s budget. Additionally, he mentioned that 3,000 students who are the children of beneficiaries will be included in the free scholarship seats for the academic year 2023-2024, in addition to 7,000 and 310 university students who are the children of families that are receiving protection by lowering the evening tuition fees for government and private universities

Al-Aqabi explained to the official Al-Sabah newspaper that the scholarship for morning studies at public universities costs 100,000 dinars per month for undergraduate students and 150,000 dinars per month for master’s and doctoral students. He thought of the move as part of his ministry’s efforts to provide academic opportunities for the children of social protection beneficiaries.
