The Iraqi Oil Ministry said Monday that when maintenance is finished, activities at the Karbala Oil Refinery would start up again on Tuesday.
According to the ministry, “The matter was discussed in a meeting with the coalition of Korean companies (HDGSK-JV) developing the refinery and the relevant authorities in the ministry,” which was presided over by Iraq’s Deputy Minister of Oil Hamid Younis Al-Zobaie.
“Resuming the refinery’s operations aligns with the government’s initiatives and its refining sector program, as well as the directives of Hayyan Abdul-Ghani, Iraq’s Deputy Prime Minister for Energy Affairs and Oil Minister, who has been closely monitoring this issue,” the Deputy Minister was quoted as saying in the statement. He went on to say that the refinery’s maximum production capacity will be reached by gradually activating the production units until they are all fully operational.
