State of Law: More than half of the region's wealth goes into the pockets of the ruling parties.

Jassim al-Moussawi, a member of the State of Law Coalition, affirmed on that the Kurdistan Region’s ruling parties profit from controlling over half of the region’s resources. He said that although while these parties receive a larger portion of the nation’s income than is reasonable, they constantly play the victim before the public and operate with a nationalist bent.

Al-Moussawi told dinaropinions.com “Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani’s visit to Erbil represents an important step and focuses on the oil file and the outstanding issues between the federal government and the regional government,” pointing out that “the region has not fully complied with the agreements and decisions issued by Baghdad over the past years.”

He stated, “The federal government is required to put an end to these repeated violations and ensure a fair distribution of wealth in accordance with the constitution.” “Put the national interest above narrow partisan interests and avoid political conflicts that hinder national dialogue,” he urged the regional government.

Notably, Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani started an official trip to Erbil with the goal of resolving the long-standing disagreements between the two parties in the hopes of coming to agreements that would bring about political and economic stability.
