Fadlallah: Abu Ali al-Askari's statement outlined the features of the next phase and reassured the Iraqi public.

Political analyst Ali Fadlallah said on Sunday that the recent statement issued by Abu Ali al-Askari, the security official of Kataib Hezbollah, presented what he described as a clear depiction of the current political and security situation in Iraq and the wider region.

Fadlallah told dinaropinions.com that the statement highlighted the prevailing state of uncertainty in Iraq resulting from ongoing clashes in Syria between the groups led by Abu Mohammed al-Julani and the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), which have reportedly led to the SDF’s withdrawal from several areas previously under its control.

He noted that the repercussions of these developments have extended beyond Syria, creating heightened pressure on Iraqi security forces, particularly along the Iraqi-Syrian border.

According to Fadlallah, a central point raised in the statement was the emphasis on maintaining armed readiness in light of the presence of armed groups in neighboring areas, which he said have received external support and now represent a potential threat to Iraq’s national security.

He added that the statement carried multiple political and security messages, describing it as a roadmap for security institutions based on field experience, while also aiming to reassure the Iraqi public regarding the challenges of the coming period.

Fadlallah concluded by stressing that the current phase requires heightened vigilance and preparedness in response to rapidly evolving regional developments and their potential impact on Iraq’s internal stability.
