MP Mohammed Anouz said on Wednesday that the provinces are basically running without any financial support right now because the government of Mohammed Shia al-Sudani has still not sent the budget schedules. He explained that this delay is hurting important projects and public services across the country.
Anouz told the Information Agency that without these financial allocations, many service and development projects have stopped or slowed down. He warned that this situation cannot continue and said the next parliament must make sure the budget allocations are delivered on time.
Meanwhile, Jawad al-Yassari, the Vice Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Regions and Provinces, also spoke about the issue. He pointed out that slow administrative procedures and the delay in approving the budget schedules are some of the biggest problems blocking progress in the provinces, districts, and sub-districts.
Al-Yassari called for a full review of the current procedures and said the government must focus on completing essential service projects first.
