Al-Karawi warns of the repercussions of Sudan's oil contracts with the American side.

Hussein al-Karawi, a member of the organizing committee for the popular movement supporting the Grand Faw Port Project and the Silk Road initiative, has warned about what he says could be serious consequences from recent oil contracts signed by Iraq’s caretaker prime minister.

Al-Karawi criticized Mohammed Shia al-Sudani, saying the caretaker government is committing constitutional and legal violations. According to him, the latest issue involves agreements related to Iraqi oil, especially oil produced in southern fields.

He claimed that the government is “trading Iraq’s oil wealth” and giving away resources that do not belong to it.

Al-Karawi also expressed surprise at what he described as political silence from many parties regarding these agreements. He said it is even more surprising that some political groups are still supporting al-Sudani for a second term despite these decisions.

He further argued that the oil agreements signed with the United States give too much influence to the American side over Iraq’s oil revenues. In his view, this could allow external control over how Iraqi oil is extracted, sold, and how revenues are distributed.

Al-Karawi warned that granting al-Sudani another term could lead to serious consequences for the country. He also criticized policies he believes align with those of Donald Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, claiming such alignments could reshape the region’s political landscape.

The comments reflect growing political debate inside Iraq over oil policy, foreign agreements, and the country’s economic future.
