Strategic Agreements in Iraq for 48GW Electricity

The Iraq Energy Exhibition and Conference was held in Baghdad from January 10 to 12 at the Baghdad International Fairgrounds, bringing together key stakeholders from the electricity, oil, gas, and renewable energy sectors.

The event reflected growing regional and international interest in Iraq’s energy market and its expanding investment opportunities. According to the Ministry of Electricity, the exhibition highlighted both ongoing and planned developments across the power sector, including electricity generation, transmission infrastructure, and energy diversification.

This year’s edition featured the participation of more than 450 local and international companies representing 16 countries, with exhibits covering technologies related to electricity, oil, gas, and renewable energy.

The ministry also announced the launch of new production and investment projects with a combined capacity of approximately 15,000 megawatts, in addition to the signing of strategic agreements with international companies to construct new power plants with a total capacity of 48,000 megawatts.

The conference served as a platform to strengthen cooperation and strategic partnerships between government institutions and international firms, while showcasing advanced technologies and solutions for energy production, transmission, and distribution in support of Iraq’s broader infrastructure development plans.
