Iraqi Private Banks League renews strategic partnership with Frankfurt School

The Iraqi Private Banks League said on Friday that it has renewed its cooperation agreement with the Frankfurt School of Finance & Management. This step aims to bring the Iraqi and German banking sectors closer together.

In a statement, the League said the agreement shows both sides want to improve their work and follow international standards and best practices.

The deal was signed by Ahmed Al-Hashemi, Deputy Executive Director of the Iraqi Private Banks League. Iko Dusse, Head of International Advisory Services, signed on behalf of the Frankfurt School.

Under the renewed partnership, both sides will continue working together on banking training, advisory services, and strategic development. They will also focus on building stronger institutions and sharing technical knowledge. Special attention will be given to digital transformation, compliance, and risk management so Iraqi banks can become more competitive and better prepared for the future.

Both sides said the next phase will play a stronger role in connecting Iraqi and German banks. They plan to create direct communication channels, hold joint discussions, and organize structured knowledge-sharing between financial institutions in both countries.

The partnership is also expected to help Iraqi banks connect more easily with German financial institutions and markets. At the same time, it may encourage more interest and investment from German banks and companies in Iraq. Officials said this cooperation will help build trust, improve understanding of regulations, and create a healthy environment for long-term financial partnerships.

The statement added that this step supports the reform efforts led by the Central Bank of Iraq. These reforms aim to strengthen the banking sector, improve digital systems, and make Iraq’s financial system more connected to the global economy — especially in cooperation with Germany.
