60 billion dinars are owed by Korek… MP challenges the Media Commission: Where is the legal complaint and the state funds?

MP Haider Al-Mutairi revealed that Korek Telecom owes the Iraqi state substantial sums of money, calling on the government to take serious legal action to recover public funds rather than resorting to raising taxes on citizens.

Speaking to dinaropinions.com, Al-Mutairi said that data from the Media and Communications Commission indicates that Korek owes approximately 60 billion Iraqi dinars for just two years, questioning whether any legal complaint has been filed against the company to recover these dues.

He added that the company also has outstanding debts for 2023 and 2024, stressing that this situation requires a clear and firm position from the relevant authorities to safeguard the state’s rights and prevent the waste of public money.

Al-Mutairi emphasized that recovering state funds from defaulting companies is a more just and effective solution than imposing additional taxes on citizens, urging authorities to activate legal and regulatory measures against all indebted entities without exception.
