Prime Minister Mohammed Shia’ al-Sudani said on Monday that government institutions must fully carry out Cabinet decisions aimed at cutting and controlling spending.
He stressed that the goal is clear: reduce expenses and improve how state institutions perform.
In a statement, the Prime Minister’s Media Office said his office has already started taking action. Several departments and divisions have been merged or reorganized, following al-Sudani’s directives. The move is part of a wider plan to lower costs and make government work more efficient.
The statement also said contracts for a number of advisors and experts have been ended. These individuals had been assigned to manage and follow up on key files linked to the government program.
According to the statement, the overall completion rate of the government program has reached 88%. The Prime Minister’s Office expressed appreciation for the efforts of the advisors and all state employees who contributed to the work.
In addition, the office confirmed it has taken further steps to rationalize spending and reduce costs across most areas of its operational budget.
