A group of oil and gas refining graduates in Muthanna Governorate protested on Monday in front of the local government building.
They say they want one simple thing: fair job opportunities in the oil fields and facilities operating in their own province.
Several graduates said they have the right technical skills and training for oil field work. But despite oil companies working in the area, they say they still haven’t been offered jobs.
They questioned why qualified local graduates are being overlooked while companies continue operating in the governorate.
The protesters called for fairness and equal opportunity in hiring. They said graduates from Muthanna with oil-related specializations should be given priority for jobs in local projects.
According to them, hiring locally would not only reduce unemployment but also help strengthen social stability in the province.
