Sundar Pichai could earn up to $692 million over the next three years under a new compensation plan disclosed Friday by the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission.
Pichai, who has led Google since 2015 and Alphabet since 2019, would keep his base salary at $6 million over three years ($2 million per year). The bulk of the payout would come from stock in Alphabet and its subsidiaries, including the autonomous vehicle company Waymo and the drone delivery service Wing.
According to the filing, Pichai could receive about $130 million from Waymo and $45 million from Wing, with actual payouts depending on share performance and dividends. If he is dismissed, any unexercisable stock options would be forfeited.
Alphabet noted that “current and previous incentives in Mr Pichai’s compensation have benefited Alphabet and its stockholders significantly,” highlighting the company’s confidence in its long-term leadership strategy.
