MP Mukhtar al-Moussawi said on Monday that the unified salary scale law has five clear benefits and should be approved as soon as possible to strengthen Iraq’s government system.
Speaking to dinaropinions.com, he said there are big differences in salaries and allowances between ministries and government institutions. He explained that this situation is unfair, especially since salaries should depend on qualifications, experience, and years of service — not on which ministry someone works for.
Al-Moussawi stressed that passing the unified salary scale law is a national necessity. According to him, it would bring five main benefits.
First, it would create balance between different government institutions.
Second, it would ensure fairness in salaries and allowances.
Third, it would fix the gaps and inconsistencies between ministries.
Fourth, it would stop employees from transferring from one ministry to another just because of better pay.
And fifth, it would help create a more stable work environment inside government offices.
He added that there is strong pressure inside Parliament to move this law forward because it is important for supporting and organizing the structure of the Iraqi state.
