Al Tamimi rejects the privatization of electricity in Diyala and raises four vague questions.

Iraqi MP Riyadh Al-Tamimi has rejected the electricity privatization deal in Diyala, saying it’s unclear and unfair to citizens.

He said the contract raises several serious questions and comes with heavy costs for people, making it unacceptable in its current form. According to him, the deal was made under unclear circumstances and without proper consultation with the local government.

Al-Tamimi also pointed to possible corruption concerns, especially since the company would get a share of both old debts and current payments without clearly improving electricity supply or services.

He questioned why the company doesn’t even have basic infrastructure in the province, like offices, maintenance centers, or service vehicles.

In the end, he called for the contract to be stopped immediately and for a full, transparent investigation to hold those responsible accountable.
