The Iraqi Ministry of Transport said that cargo ships continued to arrive at Iraqi ports throughout March, showing that trade is still moving despite regional tensions.
According to the ministry, port operations are running smoothly. The State Company for Maritime Transport is handling services for incoming ships, while cargo loading and unloading is managed by the General Company for Ports of Iraq, following international standards.
Several ships arrived during the month, carrying different types of goods. These included vessels loaded with containers, food supplies, and other cargo from countries like the UAE.
At Umm Qasr South Port, shipments were distributed across multiple docks:
- One ship delivered wheat
- Another carried sugar and wheat
- Others brought maize and additional wheat supplies
Other vessels also arrived at ports like Abu Flous Port, adding to the steady flow of goods into the country.
Overall, the ministry said this continued activity shows that Iraq is still able to keep its ports running and maintain trade, even with ongoing challenges in the region.
In short, despite tensions, Iraq’s maritime trade system remains active and stable.
