MP Raja Fadel said on Wednesday that a new law for Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF) fighters is close to being approved in Parliament.

She explained that the law will cover both service and retirement rights, making sure PMF fighters are treated fairly—just like members of other security forces.

Fadel said the law is almost ready, but the final step depends on forming the Parliamentary Security and Defense Committee. Once the committee is complete and reaches quorum, the vote can move forward quickly.

She added that Parliament sees this as a priority. The goal is to give PMF fighters proper legal protection, stable jobs, and secure financial support for them and their families.

Fadel also said this law is a way to honor the sacrifices these fighters have made, while also organizing the PMF into a more structured and stable institution.
