On Tuesday, a member of the Al-Fateh Alliance named Ali Al-Zubaidi cautioned about the potential passing of the oil and gas law that primarily benefits the region. Al-Zubaidi indicated that intense discussions will likely occur before the law is passed in the near future.
According to Al-Zubaidi, implementing the oil and gas law can establish a fair and regulated relationship between Baghdad and Erbil. This law can potentially solve numerous issues between the two governments, provided it is drafted justly and approved by parliament.
He said, “There is significant pressure on the government of Muhammad Shia al-Sudani to make concessions and pass the law in a manner that benefits the Kurdistan region.”
He stated that Basra oil would not be beneficial for the regional government. As a result, there may be intense discussions in parliament when the oil and gas law is presented.
According to Al-Zubaidi, there have been several noticeable changes in the political community since implementing the law in question, which was designed to facilitate its passing.
