Suhaila Al-Sultani, a member of the Parliamentary Committee on Energy and Electricity, spoke out on Wednesday about her deep dissatisfaction with the recurrence of power outages in Baghdad due to rising temperatures. She said that the outage was caused by carelessness in selecting incompetent individuals to run the Baghdad Distribution Company.
In an interview with the, Al-Sultani stated, “Iraqis have been suffering from repeated power outages for years, especially in Baghdad.” He noted that one of the reasons for the capital’s ongoing power outages is the selection of incompetent individuals to manage the Baghdad Distribution Company.
“The reality of electrical energy in Baghdad is very bad because of the successive administrations that took over the Baghdad Distribution Company as a result of negligence, negligence, and corruption,” she added. “Noting that the frequent interruptions with the first heat wave made us forget something called national electricity,” she continued.
She said, “Billions have been spent on the electricity sector and has not seen any development.” She also said that the electricity network in Baghdad has outages that last for hours every day, and the problem gets worse in the summer when the temperature usually hits 50 degrees Celsius.
