Abdul Jabbar: Some MPs resorted to blackmail to pass laws

MP Amer Abdul-Jabbar said on Tuesday that some members of Parliament have been involved in what he called “political blackmail” while passing certain laws. He explained that these actions have weakened Parliament’s role and damaged the trust that citizens should have in their lawmakers.

Speaking to dinaropinions.com, Abdul-Jabbar said that some MPs used illegal pressure tactics during discussions and voting. He said they tried to get personal or party benefits instead of focusing on what the public needs. According to him, this kind of behavior is a serious violation of democracy and hurts the people directly.

He also said that the next Parliament must create strong oversight rules to stop this from happening again. In his view, the lawmaking process needs to be clean, honest, and fully transparent.

Abdul-Jabbar stressed that fighting political corruption is now essential. He said it is the only way to rebuild trust between Parliament and the people.
