Aed Al-Hilali, a member of the Al-Fateh Alliance, confirmed that the approval of the oil and gas law by the House of Representatives will contribute to the resumption of oil exports to Turkey. He added that the Paris International Court will punish all parties that deal with Kurdistan regarding oil smuggling.
Al-Hilali stated in an interview with Al-Maalouma agency that if the Kurdistan government continues to smuggle oil, it will face sanctions and be unable to form anything in its accounts. He noted that the government is making a serious effort to negotiate with the Turkish side to resume oil exports.
He said Turkey violated international charters exporting oil from Kurdistan, but Kurdish parties won’t oppose resuming exports after Paris Court’s decision to avoid burdens.
Al-Hilali clarifies that passing the oil and gas law by the House of Representatives will resolve all outstanding internal problems with Kurdistan, and contribute to resuming the region’s oil exports to Turkey. Iraq lost 400,000 barrels of export funds due to the non-commitment of the Kurdistan Regional Government to stop smuggling to Turkey for several years.
During an interview with Al-Maaloumah Agency, House of Representatives member Zahra Al-Bajari claimed that the Kurdistan region is currently smuggling oil in new ways, which has led to corruption in departments supporting the smuggling.
