Salam Hussein, a member of the Al-Fatah Alliance, called today, Thursday, for the US Ambassador in Iraq to stop interfering and for the Personal Status Law to be amended more quickly.
“Our personal status is an Iraqi affair, and we will not allow American homosexuality to distort and dissolve our society,” Hussein stated in a statement to To halt the Ambassador of Homosexuality’s interference in Iraq and expedite the amendment of the Personal Status Law, our House of Representatives brothers must be honorable and proud.”
“Added he: “This matter is a purely Iraqi affair and the culture and beliefs of Iraq must be respected,” the statement reads, “We are waiting and following up on the response of the Iraqi Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the government to the violation issued by the US Ambassador and the interference in internal legislation.”
He went on to say that “the ambassador’s annoyance with this law is evidence of the correctness of the proposed amendment,” and that “the House of Representatives is required to speed up the amendment of the Personal Status Law and stop the interference of the Ambassador of Homosexuality in Iraq.”
It is noteworthy that the US Ambassador in Baghdad tweeted her disapproval of the imminent Personal Status Law amendment in Iraq.
