Independent politician Ayed Al-Hilali has revealed that a major political fight is taking place over the Ministry of Oil, and he says this struggle could reshape the entire map of Iraq’s ministries, especially the top, sovereign ones.
Al-Hilali told dinaropinions.com that talks inside the coordination framework are still ongoing and far from settled. He explained that the leaders have not yet agreed on a single person who could be nominated for the position of Prime Minister.
According to him, the framework spent the past period fighting over ministries and dividing the political “spoils.” The biggest battle, he said, is over the Oil Ministry, as several parties want to control it. Because of this, the distribution of ministries — especially the sovereign ones — is starting to shift among the three main political components.
Al-Hilali also said it is still too early to talk about choosing the three presidencies. There is no agreement yet among the other political blocs about who should take those top positions, and discussions remain wide open.
