Al-Husseini: The economic situation requires the new parliament to enact a salary scale law.

Former MP Yasser Al-Husseini says it’s time for Iraq to finally pass a clear and fair salary scale law for government employees. He stressed that many workers have been dealing with unfair pay differences for years, and a new law is necessary to protect their rights—especially with the tough economic conditions the country is facing.

Al-Husseini told dinaropinions.com that the next Parliament must make this law a top priority. He explained that updating the salary scale isn’t just paperwork—it directly affects the daily lives of thousands of employees who are struggling to keep up with rising costs.

He added that passing this law would fix the big gaps between different groups of state employees and bring more fairness across the public sector. According to him, the new Parliament needs to treat this issue as urgent and take real steps to approve it.

Al-Husseini also pointed out that Iraq’s current economic situation demands strong and serious legislation. He said that employees can’t wait any longer, and delaying the salary scale law would only increase their financial pressure. Clear, fair reform—he argued—is now a must, not a choice.
