Iraqi lawmaker Ali al-Kinani has called on Parliament to hold an emergency session to discuss canceling the security agreement with the United States.

Al-Kinani said the request comes after recent attacks on security headquarters linked to the Commander-in-Chief of Iraq’s Armed Forces.

Speaking to dinaropinions.com, he claimed that Washington has violated Iraq’s sovereignty several times. He said these actions began with what he described as support that allowed Islamic State to expand and now include allowing the Israel to carry out broad surveys of Iraqi land and airspace.

Al-Kinani said that targeting official security headquarters is a serious violation that cannot be ignored. In his view, the current security agreement no longer protects Iraq’s sovereignty and instead has become a cover for repeated violations.

He added that the situation now requires a strong response from Parliament, stressing that canceling the agreement would help Iraq make its own security decisions and protect the country’s resources from foreign interference.
