Al-Maliki: The framework has the loudest voice in parliament, and the blocs must nominate competent individuals for positions.

Independent politician Abbas al-Maliki said the Coordination Framework currently has the strongest influence inside Parliament because it holds the largest number of seats, giving it real power during upcoming votes.

Speaking to dinaropinions.com, al-Maliki explained that this majority puts responsibility on the Framework to block any candidate who is not qualified for the job. He said this sends a clear message to Sunni and Kurdish blocs: if they want support, they must put forward capable, well-known, and truly national figures — not sectarian or weak choices.

He added that the Coordination Framework will play the key role in deciding presidential and ministerial appointments in the next phase, as its votes will be decisive during confirmations.

Al-Maliki also stressed that even when there is agreement on certain names, the Framework should insist on having more than one nominee for each position. This, he said, allows Parliament to compare options and choose the best person for the job — someone who can serve Iraq properly and with integrity.
