On Sunday morning, Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani chaired a meeting to finalize the government procedures for transitioning to electronic payment. He assured that there will not be any additional financial burdens on the beneficiaries of electronic payment.

A statement received indicates that the following individuals attended the meeting: the Governor of the Central Bank, the Prime Minister’s advisors for strategic, economic, and banking affairs, the Director General of Payments at the Central Bank, and the directors of several government banks.

During the meeting, the participants discussed the ways to ensure the protection of citizens and preservation of their rights. Al-Sudani emphasized that citizens who use electronic payments should not be charged any additional fees or commissions, especially in their daily transactions and routine payments.

During the meeting, Al-Sudani emphasized the need to expedite the transition to electronic card payments in both public and private sector organizations. The discussion also covered the commissions that banking entities will charge to achieve the government’s objectives in reforming the financial and banking sectors.
