AUIS Hosts Iraq's First National VEX Robotics Competition

The American University of Iraq, Sulaimani (AUIS) has made history by hosting Iraq’s first National VEX Robotics Competition for the 2025–2026 season. Held on November 30, 2025, this major event marked a big step forward for STEM education and youth innovation in the country.

The competition brought together young students from across Iraq, giving them a chance to compete, learn, and show off their skills in engineering, problem-solving, and teamwork. With support from Korek and Taurus, the event served as the official qualifier to choose the team that will represent Iraq at the VEX World Robotics Championship in the United States.

Schools and organizations from all over Iraq joined this first-of-its-kind national event, including:

  • Science Camp from Basrah
  • The International School of Choueifat (Erbil and Sulaimani)
  • British International School of Kurdistan
  • AI Incubator from Mustaqbal University
  • ROOK for AI from Salahaddin
  • SAVA Private Schools
  • Cedars International Schools (Erbil and Sulaimani)

From 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, the AUIS campus was buzzing with energy. Students competed in VEX GO, VEX IQ, and VEX V5 categories, each pushing teams to design smart robots, make quick decisions, and perform well under pressure.
