The Kurdistan Region’s Minister of Trade and Industry, Kamal Muslim, confirmed on Sunday that farmers have received 24 billion dinars in wheat payments.
Muslim told dinaropinions.com that “the Iraqi government has sent 24 billion dinars to wheat farmers out of over 300 billion dinars owed, after less than 73 billion had been distributed previously.”
He added that “this payment is part of ongoing efforts to support farmers and compensate them for their agricultural production,” noting that the government plans to complete the disbursement to cover all outstanding amounts.
Muslim also stressed the need for close follow-up by both local and federal authorities to make sure support reaches the farmers fully and on time.
