Baims Acquires MedMasters, Enters Iraqi Education Market

Baims, an education technology company based in the MENA region, has bought MedMasters, an online medical learning platform from Iraq.

This is Baims’ second major acquisition — and its first move into the Iraqi market.

The deal helps Baims grow its presence across the Middle East and strengthens its position in digital higher education.

MedMasters was founded by Dr. Abdulazeez Salam and Dr. Zaid Imad. It runs a mobile-first platform that connects medical students with courses and learning materials. Thousands of students across Iraq already use it, and the platform has grown steadily on its own, with strong student engagement.

Yousef AlHusaini, CEO of Baims, said the company looks for founder-led platforms that already have strong academic communities and solid business models. MedMasters fits that vision.

After the acquisition, MedMasters will keep its name and academic identity. Nothing changes on that front.

But behind the scenes, Baims will step in with operational support, funding, and regional experience. Iraqi students will also get access to more recorded courses that match their university curricula.

In addition, students will benefit from expanded one-on-one tutoring through Baims’ tutoring platform, Orcas.

The goal is simple: combine recorded lessons, live tutoring, and better digital tools to give students stronger academic support across different subjects in Iraq.

Baims already operates in Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Egypt, and the United Kingdom. With this move, Iraq officially joins its growing network.
