Iraq has started moving crude oil from the south to the north again, marking an important step after recent upgrades.

The North Oil Company (NOC) received its first shipment from Basra at the K1 station in Kirkuk. This comes after repair work and improvements that increased the station’s capacity.

The oil is being transported by tanker trucks, and unloading began as soon as the shipment arrived.

Station manager Sarmad Mohammed said K1 can now handle up to 90,000 barrels per day. He added that shipments will keep arriving regularly, with ongoing unloading operations.

Officials explained that the oil will then be pumped to the Saralu station, northwest of Kirkuk, before being sent for export through Turkey’s Ceyhan port.

Overall, this move helps strengthen Iraq’s oil transport network and supports steady exports.
