Political | 12/24/2023   Mawazine News – Baghdad  The US Ambassador to Iraq, Alenia Romanski, announced today, Sunday, that her country will continue to provide US dollar services to Iraq.

Romanski said in a tweet, “The executive agency responsible for promoting economic prosperity and ensuring the financial security of the United States continues its cooperation with the Central Bank of Iraq.”

Romanowski added, “Many Iraqi banks have formed relationships with international banks for the first time, which is a positive step in making progress in reforming the banking sector. We will continue to provide US dollar services to Iraq in the interest of economic stability.”

Sudanese Advisor On The Dollar: The Battle Is Almost Over

Economy | 12/24/2023  Mawazine News – Baghdad  The media advisor to the Prime Minister, Hisham Al-Rikabi, confirmed today, Sunday, that our battle with the dollar is nearing the end.

Al-Rikabi stated in a tweet followed by Mawazine News, that “the will of the Sudanese government to carry out reform within the financial institutions in Iraq and the insistence on correction were important factors in strengthening confidence between Baghdad and Washington, and constituted a positive step in achieving success within the banking sector.”

He noted that “we said it before and we confirm it today. Our battle with the dollar is almost over.”

The dollar continues its gradual decline, falling to 150 dinars

Economy | 12/24/2023   Mawazine News – Baghdad  The exchange rates of the US dollar continue to decline against the Iraqi dinar in the local markets in the capital, Baghdad, and the provinces.

Dollar prices fell with the closure of the main Al-Kifah and Al-Harithiya stock exchanges in Baghdad, recording 150,200 Iraqi dinars against 100 dollars, while this morning it recorded 151,950 Iraqi dinars against 100 dollars.

Selling prices in banking shops in local markets in Baghdad declined, as the selling price reached 151,250 dinars for 100 dollars, while the purchase price reached 149,250 dinars for 100 dollars.

A Significant Decline In Iraq’s Oil Exports To America Last Week

Energy  Economy News – Baghdad  The US Energy Information Administration announced on Sunday that Iraq’s oil exports to America declined significantly over the past week.

A table published by the administration showed that “the average US imports of crude oil during the past week from nine major countries amounted to 5.674 million barrels per day, an increase of 168 thousand barrels per day from the previous week, which amounted to 5.506 million barrels per day.”

The table added that Iraq’s oil exports to America amounted to 22 thousand barrels per day last week, down by 63 thousand barrels per day from the previous week, which reached an average of 85 thousand barrels per day.

She indicated that most of America’s oil revenues during the past week came from Canada at an average of 3,686 million barrels per day, followed by Mexico with an average of 851 million barrels per day, and oil revenues from Saudi Arabia amounted to an average of 406 thousand barrels per day, and then Colombia at an average of 215 thousand barrels per day.

Central Bank Sales Exceed $209 Million Today 

Sunday 24 December 2023 | Economical Number of readings: 317 Baghdad / NINA / The Central Bank of Iraq announced, today, Sunday, its total sales of foreign currency through the electronic window.

The total transfers abroad (remittances, credits) amounted to $180,262,684, while the total cash sales amounted to $28,940,000, and the total sales amounted to $209,202,684.

The cash sale price was calculated at 1,305 dinars per dollar, while the bond credits, international settlements for the electronic card, and external transfers were at 1,310 dinars per dollar. /End 11

During The Meeting With Private Banks, The Private Sector Department Takes New Measures To Support Projects

Economy | 12/24/2023  Mawazine News – Baghdad  The Private Sector Department in the Ministry of Commerce organized, on Sunday, a “deliberative” meeting for a number of bank guarantee and project financing companies, private banks, and a number of sectoral ministries, organizations and unions of the Iraqi private sector to develop mechanisms for supporting medium, small and micro projects and the possibility of providing financial loans through banks.

Civil and governmental institutions, as well as finding serious solutions to address the problems and obstacles facing the work of these projects.

The media of the Private Sector Department stated in a statement, “The meeting discussed in detail the mechanisms of support provided to small projects and overcoming the obstacle of guarantees that may be an obstacle” to granting these loans, including It preserves public money and contributes to providing possible facilities for the success of micro-projects.

According to the statement, Assistant Director General of the Private Sector Development Department, Muhammad Hanoun, pointed out, according to the statement, a number of recommendations that came out of the meeting, most notably the submission of a proposal by the Iraqi Company for Bank Guarantees to establish a guarantee fund managed by The company is funded by the Central Bank.

The Private Sector Development Department in the Ministry of Commerce had announced a platform (support) initiative for small and micro projects through coordination with the Central Bank of Iraq and a number of government banks, as well as holding workshops to train project owners to prepare an economic feasibility study for projects scheduled to be established in various fields of work as well. The department works to implement the national strategy for developing the private sector.
