The Central Bank of Iraq says it’s taking steps to fix problems that have stopped some Iraqi banks from using US dollars.
Ahmed Dawood Salman, who handles transfers at the bank, said they’re working with international audit companies, including Oliver Wyman, to sort out these issues. The goal is to make sure banks meet the rules and can start dealing in dollars again.
He explained that this work is already underway and still ongoing. As the review moves forward, he expects things to start improving in the next few days.
