CBI reports loan growth exceeding $46.5B

On Wednesday, the Central Bank of Iraq (CBI) declared that the total amount of advances and loans to banks had risen to more than 61 trillion Iraqi dinar (about $46.5 billion).

The first quarter of 2024 saw 61.7 trillion IQD in loans and advances, up from 50.9 trillion IQD in 2023 and 46.4 trillion IQD in 2022, according to the bank’s figures.

In the first quarter of 2024, the loan and advance growth rate increased by 21.2% over the same time in 2022, and in the first quarter of 2023, it increased by 10.5% over the same period in 2022, the research noted.
