Depreciation of Iraqi Dinar sparks Protests

According to reports, a large group of individuals gathered outside the Central Bank of Iraq (CBI) headquarters in Baghdad to protest the recent decline in the value of the Iraqi Dinar (IQD) compared to the US dollar. Over the past 48 hours, the dollar has reportedly increased from 1,470 dinars to 1,570 dinars, leading to public concern and demonstrations.

The bank owners have reportedly requested “official action” to support the dinar currency, as reported by the Associated Press.
