DNO Sees Long Term Oil Production in Kurdistan Licences

DNO has shared new details about how long its oil licences will last and what it expects for future production in the Kurdistan Region.

In its 2025 annual report, the company said the Tawke Licence is set to expire in 2026. However, the licence includes an automatic five-year extension, which could keep it active until 2031.

If oil production is still profitable at that time, DNO can ask the Kurdistan Regional Government for another five-year extension, which could push the licence to 2036.

Based on its current outlook, the company believes production from the Tawke area will remain commercially viable for the entire licence period and any possible extensions.

DNO also shared an update on the Baeshiqa Licence. The company declared the project commercially viable on August 1, 2021, which ended the exploration phase and moved the project into the development stage under a production-sharing contract.

This development period is expected to last 20 years. If production is still possible after that time, DNO will have the option to request another five-year extension.
