Badr Abdel-Aty said Thursday that Egypt is working with Pakistan and Turkey to help ease tensions in the Middle East.
Speaking at a press conference in Cairo, he explained that these efforts focus on passing messages between the United States and Iran in an attempt to calm the situation.
Abdel-Aty warned that the ongoing conflict could have “extremely dangerous” consequences—not just politically and economically, but also for security across the region and the wider world.
He stressed that diplomatic efforts are ongoing and have not stopped, expressing hope that continued international pressure will lead to a full ceasefire. He also highlighted efforts to stabilize key hotspots, including Lebanon, and to bring an end to the broader conflict involving Iran.
At the same time, Egypt reaffirmed its support for strengthening the Lebanese state. Abdel-Aty said Cairo backs efforts to ensure that all weapons are under official state control, as part of a wider plan to restore stability.
His message was clear: diplomacy must continue, because the alternative—further escalation—would be damaging for everyone involved.
