Iraq’s oil exports to the United States went up last week, reaching 309,000 barrels per day, according to new data from the U.S. Energy Information Administration. This placed Iraq as the third-largest supplier of crude oil to the United States.

The data shows that Iraqi shipments increased by 155,000 barrels per day, compared to 154,000 barrels per day the week before.

Overall, the United States imported about 5.799 million barrels of crude oil per day from nine major suppliers last week. That’s 134,000 barrels more than the previous week, when imports were around 5.655 million barrels per day.

Canada remained the biggest supplier, sending 4.227 million barrels per day to the U.S. It was followed by Saudi Arabia with 607,000 barrels per day, and Iraq with 309,000 barrels per day.

Other suppliers included Venezuela with 232,000 barrels per day and Nigeria with 156,000 barrels per day.

Smaller shipments also came from Mexico with 140,000 barrels per day, Colombia with 76,000 barrels per day, Brazil with 50,000 barrels per day, and Libya with 2,000 barrels per day.

In short, Iraq strengthened its position as one of the key oil suppliers to the United States last week.
