General Electric seeks to use jet turbines to convert burned gas into electricity in Iraq

Medhat Al-Marabi, the Executive Director of Mobile Power Units at General Electric Energy Company in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa, announced on Sunday that the company plans to harness jet turbine technology to convert burned gas into electricity.

The Ministry of Oil announced this information after he met with Deputy Prime Minister for Energy Affairs and Oil Minister Hayan Abdul Ghani.

During the meeting, Al-Merhebi discussed the technical offer presented by General Electric. The offer included quick solutions to benefit from burned associated gas to produce electrical energy by utilizing General Electric’s jet turbine technology. Additionally, there was a proposal to sign a framework agreement on the sidelines of the COP28 climate conference. The statement did not provide any further details about the meeting.

In cooperation with reputable international companies, the Ministry of Oil is dedicated to promoting projects that rapidly convert associated gas into usable energy solutions.
