HKN discusses Hamrin Oil Field Development

Discussions were held on the investment and development of the Hamrin oil field during a meeting at the headquarters of the North Oil Company (NOC) on Thursday, 22 January 2026. The meeting included a delegation from U.S.-based HKN Energy.

According to NOC, the talks focused on the technical, economic, and contractual aspects of the project within Iraq’s licensing rounds framework. Discussions covered plans to raise production levels, optimise the utilisation of oil resources, and improve overall operational efficiency.

Key topics included the development of oil reservoirs, rehabilitation and upgrading of surface facilities, enhancements to production systems, and proposed timelines for implementation. The meeting also addressed economic and contractual arrangements designed to ensure the project’s long-term efficiency and sustainability.

The discussions are part of a series of ongoing technical and coordination meetings aimed at advancing development of the Hamrin oil field and strengthening cooperation between Iraq’s oil sector and international energy companies.
