Bafel Talabani, the leader of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK), and Nechirvan Barzani, the president of the Kurdistan Region, cast their votes within the first few minutes of the ballot boxes opening for the general vote in the sixth election for the Kurdistan Parliament since its establishment.
Pavel Talabani, the leader of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan, declared after casting his vote, “I call on all voters to go and vote to change the situation in the Kurdistan Region, and our message is we will end the authoritarian rule, so let’s achieve that.”
for his part, Nechirvan Barzani, President of the Kurdistan Region and Leader of the Kurdistan Democratic Party, declared immediately after casting his vote that the people of the Kurdistan Region and Kurdistan are the first winners of these elections.
Masrour Barzani, Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Regional Government, remarked, “After casting his vote, We hope that the people will vote and punish the parties that are attempting to sway Kurdistan’s destiny.
After years of political tension and bottlenecks that have moved from the region to Baghdad, Kirkuk, and Nineveh, which have become arenas of conflict and the breaking of wills between the Barty and the Yekiti since the last elections held in 2018 until now, these Kurdistan elections are witnessing intense polarization, especially between the two ruling parties in the region.
