The Federal Integrity Commission in Salah al-Din Governorate announced on Sunday the arrest of an employee working at the local branch of the Martyrs Foundation for allegedly demanding money in exchange for carrying out part of his official duties.

In a statement received by dinaropinions.com, the commission said the investigation office in Salah al-Din formed a special team that went to the foundation’s office and set up an ambush after receiving information that the employee was blackmailing a citizen and asking for money to complete a transaction.

According to the statement, the suspect was arrested while in possession of the bribe money he had allegedly taken.

The operation was carried out based on an arrest warrant issued by the judge of the Salah al-Din Investigation Court, which handles integrity-related cases. The court ordered the detention of the accused under Article 307 of the Iraqi Penal Code, which deals with bribery offenses.
