The intelligence agency specializing in combating organized crime reported seizing approximately 3 million liters of oil and its derivatives.
The agency released a statement stating that it had received detailed information about a group of smugglers who were dealing in oil derivatives across several provinces. In response, the agency formed several specialized teams comprising intelligence and technical experts, accompanied by a technological force. Their objective was to pursue and apprehend the smugglers, with the aim of minimizing the negative impact on the national economy.
As per the statement, the intelligence agency carried out operations for 30 days and managed to seize approximately 3 million liters of oil and its derivatives. Additionally, the agency confiscated 90 vehicles, along with their drivers, which were being used for trading and smuggling oil and its derivatives.
They discovered and secured eight oil sites and several vehicles used for smuggling oil across Baghdad and various provinces.
The suspects openly admitted their involvement in smuggling oil and its derivatives. They have been referred to the investigative authorities and are prepared to face legal proceedings.
