Iran denies talks with US despite ceasefire plan reports

Iran says it is not in any talks with the United States right now.

Speaking on Wednesday, Amir Moghadam made it clear that there have been no negotiations with the US, pushing back on recent reports. His comments came after claims by Donald Trump that talks were already happening.

Moghadam explained that while some regional countries are trying to help, their efforts are only meant to “prepare the ground” for possible future dialogue—not actual negotiations at this stage.

At the same time, reports from CNN and Axios suggest that Iran remains cautious about any US proposals. One major reason is concern over recent American military movements, which have raised doubts about Washington’s intentions.

According to those reports, the US has put forward a 15-point plan. The proposal reportedly includes a one-month ceasefire that could open the door to formal talks, possibly hosted by Pakistan.

The discussions, if they happen, would likely cover key issues such as Iran’s nuclear program, its support for allied groups in the region, and the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz.

For now, though, Iran’s message is simple: there are no negotiations yet—only early steps that might, eventually, lead to talks.
