Iraq’s electricity system just took a big hit. The Ministry of Electricity announced that Iran has completely stopped sending gas to Iraq, cutting about 3,100 megawatts of power generation.
Spokesman Ahmed Mousa said this is due to regional developments and is already affecting the national grid.
Authorities are working to make up the shortfall by using other fuels and adjusting operations, but the disruption is serious and will likely affect electricity availability in the country.
