Iraq’s Ministry of Planning says inflation went down in October 2025 — both compared to last month and compared to last year — but it didn’t share the exact inflation rates in its announcement.
According to ministry spokesperson Abdul Zahra al-Hindawi, teams from the Central Statistical Organisation found that monthly inflation dropped by 0.3% compared to September. Annual inflation also went down by 0.5% compared to October 2024.
Al-Hindawi explained that the biggest reason for the decline was lower prices in the food and non-alcoholic beverages category, which fell by 0.5%. Within that group, fish prices dropped sharply by 4.9%, and fruit prices went down 2.4%. Housing costs also saw a 1% decrease.
Other spending categories either moved slightly or stayed mostly the same.
